Cavalier King Charles Spaniel

Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Overview

A Cavalier King Charles Spaniel is sure to make puppy eyes for days! The name is posh and a bit of a mouthful, but there’s nothing not love about this lil' cutie. With regal grace and an even temper, Cavs are the classiest cuddlers in town. As the name suggests, their ancestry traces back to the royal courts of England. King Charles II devoted himself to his dogs—he never went anywhere without a couple little spaniels in his footsteps. The King even decreed Cavs to be welcome in the Houses of Parliament. As if their nobility doesn't still exist today, this breed lives for royal treatment. Placing themselves in any crease closest to you, preferably a lap, Cavalier King Charles Spaniels need and desire affection! They'll love you if you're a baby, a retired folk, the mail man, or a complete stranger. If their floppy ears and wagging tail doesn't make you melt, surely their large, dark round eyes will. In many ways a Cav fits the bill as an ideal house pet. It is playful yet elegant, attentive yet quite, and just as happy lounging in the house as it is doing laps in the yard! With a brisk walk and couple play sessions a day, this pup can live in the countryside or the city. Cavalier King Charles Spaniels don't need much space, in fact, they prefer as little as possible. They like to be as close as they can to their master at all times! With a Cav in the family, you'll never be alone—not even in the bathroom. If you always dreamt of marrying a princess or prince charming, get yourself a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel instead!

Feeding your Cavalier King Charles Spaniel

Cavalier King Charles Spaniels do best with a high-quality commercial diet formulated for toy or small breeds to support their activity level and lustrous coat. Whether it's wet food or dry kibble, it should have a balance of protein, fat and carbohydrates. Try to avoid products with artificial flavouring or added preservatives. Rather, stick to food that is dense with nutrients, vitamins and minerals! Cavalier King Charles Spaniels can sometimes be finicky, so don't be surprised if you find yourself with hand-full of kibble helping them out. Prepare yourself to serve your King or Queen Cav!
